  • Teacher attacked by Muslim student after calling al-Qaeda a terrorist group 10 Mar 2010 | 1:51 am

Translation of Al qaeda is Islamic centcom or HQ ......... and the Taliban is Obama's new partner in peace. Welcome to the new barbarity. Think this is bad? With all the recent prostrating to jihad, watch it spiral. Teacher attacked after al-Qaeda comments iol.co.za (hat tip Cheryl) Lyon, France - A 15-year-old French schoolboy sprayed a teacher with teargas after she described al-Qaeda as a "terrorist group", she told reporters on Tuesday as prosecutors began their investigation. "I had just explained that the attacks on September 11, 2001 were carried out by the terrorist organisation al-Qaeda, as is written in the text book," said the history teacher, speaking on condition of anonymity. "He stood up and declared that al-Qaeda is not terrorist and that neither is the Taliban," she said, adding that the boy had then pulled out a spray can and doused her and a teaching assistant with teargas. Neither victim was seriously hurt. Al-Qaeda, a global organisation under the nominal leadership of Saudi-born militant Osama bin Laden, boasted of carrying out the September 11 attacks on New York and Washington. The attacks - in which hijacked airliners were crashed into the World Trade Centre, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania - killed just under 3 000 people, the vast majority of them American civilians. Both staff members, who work in the small school in the central French village of Largentiere, made a criminal complaint against the boy, state prosecutors confirmed. A youth court will be convened in the nearby town of Privas on March 16 to hear the case. - AFP

  • Nazi Youth Circa 2010: Muslim Brotherhood Establishes New Youth Organization 9 Mar 2010 | 9:52 pm

It seems the Muslim Brotherhood is now so emboldened, it is going under aliases to achieve its global jihadist goals: FIOE Netherlands Establishes New Youth Organization Muslim Brotherhood Daily Global Report hat tip Rut The Federation of Islamic Organizations In Europe (FIOE), representing the Muslim Brotherhood in Europe, has announced that its Dutch member organization has established a new youth and student organization. According to the FIOE announcement: The Federation of Islamic Organizations in Holland has established a new organization for youth and students, during a meeting attended by representatives from the edification departments, da’wah and assimilation of new Muslims. All attendees agreed on the necessity of organizing many meetings to discuss the future strategy of the organization and forming its action plan. The first meeting of this series will be held on Saturday March 20th 2010. The leader of the Federation of Islamic Organizations in Holland (FION) is Yahia Bouyafa who also heads the Europe Trust Nederland, the Dutch branch of the Europe Trust, the funding/endowment arm of FIOE. Previous posts have profiled Mr. Bouyafa, his role as a dialog partner for the Dutch government, his part in a public broadcasting controversy, and his real-estate dealings on behalf of the Europe Trust. A report on FIOE by the NEFA Foundation describes the organization as follows: The Federation of Islamic Organizations in Europe (FIOE) claims to be an independent organization representing the interests of Muslims in Europe. In reality, the FIOE is an umbrella group that comprises the global Muslim Brotherhood in Europe. Strong links connect FIOE’s leadership central institutions and member organizations to the Brotherhood, as well as to Saudi Arabia. Funding for the FIOE is derived largely from Gulf sources, including some of the ruling families of the United Arab Emirates. The FIOE has strong ties to Hamas and Hamas fund-raising organizations, and some FIOE member organizations show evidence of links with Al-Qaida. The FIOE recently opened a headquarters office in Brussels and has had some success in positioning itself as a “dialog partner” for the EU and other important institutions. FIOE has its own youth organization known as the Forum of European Muslim Youth and Student Organizations (FEMYSO). Over the years, FEMYSO has developed a relationship with both the Council of Europe and the European Commission where it has been invited since 2003 to attend meetings of the Group of Policy Advisers (GOPA). One of the important leaders of FEMYSO over the years has been Ibrahim El-Zayat, the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood in Germany. I'm always willing to drink for liberty. I will be attending this event. In Tennessee we have Trades Joe's but no "two-buck chuck." There is no going to Krogers and picking out a nice steak and a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon to go with it. Unfortunately the liquor industry and the good Christians of this state don't want us to have that option. It is time to change the law.

  • Is Obama a Harvard educated financial illiterate? 8 Mar 2010 | 9:39 pm

The following is from the Blair House Health Care summit. I am flabbergasted. Is our Harvard educated President a dumbass idiot? Does he really not know the difference between liability insurance and collision insurance?

    Here is what he says:

When I was young, just got out of college, I had to buy auto insurance. I had a beat-up old car. And I won't name the name of the insurance company, but there was a company -- let's call it Acme Insurance in Illinois. And I was paying my premiums every month. After about six months I got rear-ended and I called up Acme and said, I'd like to see if I can get my car repaired, and they laughed at me over the phone because really this was set up not to actually provide insurance; what it was set up was to meet the legal requirements. But it really wasn't serious insurance.

Now, it's one thing if you've got an old beat-up car that you can't get fixed. It's another thing if your kid is sick, or you've got breast cancer.
What?? This is unreal. This is unbelievable! I did not know "Barack" was this stupid. Is he an idiot? I have high school drop-out clients on welfare who know the difference between liability insurance and collision insurance. Barack needs to take a high school class in financial literacy. Would you take health care insurance advice from this guy? Does this inspire confidence?

  • The White Flag Presidency 4 Mar 2010 | 10:26 pm

With all due respect, when the liberal president of the United States has to essentially beg his fellow liberals to vote for his proposal, it's safe to say we have a weak executive.

President Obama's message to progressives who are dissatisfied with the Senate health care bill is two fold: First: Don't forget about the uninsured. Second: Don't forget what failure to pass this bill would do to the party and my presidency...

...Obama reminded the assembled Democrats that doing nothing would be politically disastrous. "To maintain a strong presidency we need to pass this bill," the President said, according to Grijalva.

What Obama doesn’t seem to realize is that his presidency is already damaged, no matter what happens with health care. If he manages to persuade enough Democrats to pass such a profoundly unpopular bill, the Democrats will pay in November. However, if he doesn’t pass it, the Democratic base will regard him as weak. Since those Democrats are basically all that are propping up his approval ratings, it’s hard to figure out which scenario is worse.

The true measure of how far Obama has fallen, though, is how Democrats regard him. Few seem to be asking him to campaign for them, and his approval ratings aren’t at record lows, but they are likely nowhere near where Obama thought he would be at this point in his presidency.

Of course, Obama has no one but himself to blame for this. He campaigned as a moderate who could bring the country together, but lurched toward hard liberalism almost as soon as he took office, and is now urging Democrats to embrace the very ideology that crushed his approval rating. Obama underestimated how angry voters who believed his campaign rhetoric would get once they realized he was lying to them.

Obama’s approval ratings fell because Americans don’t like being lied to, and for that reason, those ratings are unlikely to improve until the president shows a willingness to respond to popular opinion. Frankly, given how Obama has governed to this point, I am not optimistic. I hope the American people deliver a firm rebuke in November, but more importantly I hope Obama gets the message. If he doesn't, then it may be time to start worrying about his ability to acknowledge political reality.

  • Olbermann Pre-Empted, Howard Kurtz Hardest Hit 24 Feb 2010 | 8:17 pm

Like DrewM, I enjoy watching the Winter Olympics. Unfortunately, the broadcast rights to those games were given to NBC, whose network coverage has been...less than ideal. Fortunately, NBC has two cable channels that have picked up the slack. Both MSNBC and CNBC have almost proven their worth by covering, with limited inane commentary, some of the best events - curling and hockey.

This evening, Sweden and Great Britain faced off in curling. The epic match was covered on MSNBC, and preempted much of their prime time schedule. The half-dozen Olbermann fans out there were outraged by this programming decision, chief among them totally objective media reporter Howard Kurtz, who wrote the following on Twitter:

Keith Olbermann has been preempted by...curling? Don't they realize there's a health care summit tomorrow??
What, exactly, was Kurtz expecting on the health care debate from Keith Olbermann? The man is nothing if not predictably partisan and outrageously outraged by any Republican who dares disagree with The One. No serious media reporter should bemoan the preemption of Olbermann, who is really nothing more than a carnival barker for the left at this point.

Don't feel bad for Kurtz, though. The curling match ended with a Swedish win, and the restoration of outrageous outrage to the airwaves:

Olbermann back in action. Curling ran long on MSNBC. Whoever made this programming decision should be Worst Person in the World.
I hope, for Kurtz's sake, that the delay wasn't too stressful.

Howard Kurtz, this long-distance request and dedication is for you, pal. Was the Special Comment good for you? I hope so, because your pining for Olbermann shows your...

  • My Christmas Message To All On The Political Spectrum 23 Dec 2009 | 2:14 pm

I usually would never use a line from a modern movie to make a more profound point, but every once in a while there is a line in a move that strikes me. This happened when I was watching the movie, "2012." Near the end, one of the main characters declares, "It is when we stop fighting for each other that we lose our humanity."

Which brings me to my Christmas message. All of us here on the right or left, in this subculture of political obsession are, in the end, fighting for each other. No matter where we are on the political spectrum, we all want to make this world a better place. We all want what is best for the people who live on this planet.

We all have different ideas on how to do that well. Some of us are profoundly right, and some of us are profoundly wrong. It is only in the end, when we face the One who loves us best, that we will be able to see whether what we believed was indeed right.

But until then, we continue on in this life, doing what we can to effect change. To lift one another up. To bring a better life for all.

For all our differences, it would do us well to remember that at the heart of all of this, all this writing, all this watching, all this perspective, we are simply caring about the world around us and the decisions being made on our behalf.

We are...... "fighting for each other."

This really is at the heart of all great religions. It is certainly at the heart of my Christian faith. Christ said, "Love one another as I have loved you." Christ told us that it is in taking care of one another that we find God and purpose in life. When we stand for those less fortunate, we are fighting for each other. When we fight for freedom, we are fighting for each other.

In this great nation our founding fathers believed that we were and are "endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights." They didn't believe that these rights were given to man by men. They did not believe that this nation was by accident. In order to form "a more perfect union" they understood that it was the "blessings of liberty" given to us by our Creator, that would indeed be necessary to fight for. They did fight. They fought for us.

And now, still...we are fighting for each other.

I wish you all a blessed and happy Christmas, but special blessings to those who stand at the gate and watch those who lead us. We watch and work to make sure that those who lead this great nation are being worthy of the work bestowed upon them, and that they are understanding the greatness of their service to us.

So to bloggers, commenters, columnists, authors, radio hosts, political pundits, news anchors, and reporters, I say many blessings to you, and may you always keep fighting the good fight.

For it is there where we truly do keep and treasure our humanity.

  • Paging Dr. Galt : Health Care from the Producer's Perspective 2 Sep 2009 | 12:28 pm

Much of the debate over the health-care bill starts and stops in the wrong place. It dwells on the experiences of health-care consumers—but the story actually begins with the producers of health care, the doctors, nurses, hospitals, drug companies. Without these producers, no health care is available for the consumers to buy—at any price. So we need to begin by looking at the current legislation from the perspective of the producers.

So far, President Obama's efforts in that direction merely betray the inability of a lifelong leftist to see private enterprise in any terms other than the standard Marxist caricatures about "greed" and exploitation. He made that jarringly clear in his attacks on doctors, whom he has

Let's take the example of something like diabetes, one of—a disease that's sky-rocketing, partly because of obesity. Partly because it is not treated as effectively as it could be. Right now if we paid a family—if a family care physician works with his or her patient, to help them lose weight, modify diet, monitors whether they are taking their medication in a timely fashion, they might get reimbursed a pittance. But if that same diabetic ends up getting their foot amputated, that's $30,000, $40,000, $50,000, immediately the surgeon is reimbursed.

That part about surgeons being paid fabulous sums of money for amputations turns out to be a total fabrication. The actual reimbursement for such a procedure is less than $1,000.

Obama also explained for us the workings of the tonsillectomy racket.

  • Obamacare: Where's the innovation? 31 Aug 2009 | 4:04 pm

    Obamacare: Where's the innovation?

    By MICHAEL P. TREMOGLIE

THE TWO MOST significant aspects of the healthcare reform being proposed by President Obama:

    A. The plan offers nothing that hasn't been rejected already.

    B. And it fails to address two major cost issues.

During his recent ABC appearance, Mr. Obama gave a glimpse of his cost-containment strategy. Responding to a question, he said, "We can let doctors know . . . maybe this isn't going to help," maybe the patient is "better off not having the surgery but taking the painkiller."

Unsaid was who would be the "we" who was going to "let doctors know." But what Mr. Obama did refer to, inadvertently, was what used to be called in the early and mid-'90s - when I was a managed-care executive - medical management using "clinical practice guidelines."

This meant an actuarial company would establish an extensive database of medical procedures that were the most effective and efficient. Then the list was used by HMOs to decide the treatments patients received.

This approach was soundly rejected. The public, politicians and providers derisively referred to it as "cookbook" medicine.

Obama has merely recycled it under a new name, "evidence-based practice."

The Brookings Institution, a liberal think-tank, recently published a paper about health-care reform that made several recommendations.

One was, "Use comparative effectiveness results to support innovative coverage and payment policies . . . help support novel payment policies that will be more effective at rewarding evidence-based practice."

" 'Evidence-based medicine' is the au courant term," said Dr. Celeste Mruk, of Bala Cynwyd Medical Associates. Mruk is a clinical assistant professor of medicine at Penn, and well-versed in the finances of medical services.
